Traditional events all summer

On summer nights, various cities and villages of Crete organize religious celebrations, art exhibitions and festivals of theater, music, film, tasting and dance.

Events are performed in stadiums, archaeological sites or in small theaters in the countryside. The religious celebrations are always framed with Cretan music and dance in at village squares or near the churches, where locals gather in and celebrate together.

There are many events that have been associated with local products and are always an occasion for a big festival. Feasts of potato, raki, bread, pottery, wine, cheese, snail, orange, apple and many more include free tasting of the traditional products of each area.

When winter arrives, celebrations do not stop. Groups of friends meet at kazania (raki distilleries), where the time of distilling raki soon turns into a traditional feast with local tastes, local drinks, dance and music.
